Boruto thinks he has the Byakugan because he inherited it from his mom, Hinata, who's from the Hyuga clan. He even tries to activate it a few times, thinking it's in his genes!

I thought the same thing when I first watched it! With Hinata as his mom, it makes sense why he'd believe he could have Byakugan too.
