Boruto thinks he has the Byakugan because he inherited it from his mom, Hinata, who's from the Hyuga clan. He even tries to activate it a few times, thinking it's in his genes!

I thought the same thing when I first watched it! With Hinata as his mom, it makes sense why he'd believe he could have Byakugan too.
Honestly, he wishes he had the Byakugan because being just Uzumaki wasn't enough for him, haha!
Boruto believes he has the Byakugan due to his family background, but spoiler alert, he ends up with something even more unique.
