Usually it's just a notification sound for when certain updates or ads load. Don't worry, a quick mute in your phone settings should do the trick.
Happens to me too! It started after the last update. I just turned off 'sounds' in the Facebook app settings, and it stopped.
Just bad UI design. Turn off Facebook sounds and you'll never hear it again.
