It's just Facebook's way of keeping things neutral unless you're officially connected. Once you're friends, it'll say 'friend.'

It says 'person' cause you haven't added them yet. It changes to 'friend' when you do.

Facebook says 'person' instead of 'friend' when the individual is not yet on your friends list. Send that friend request!

In my experience, it means you need to hit that 'add friend' button first!
