The Tokyo Ghoul anime diverges from the manga because the creators took liberties with the storyline, attempting to condense and adapt the complex plot into fewer episodes. They probably wanted to keep the pace faster and more action-packed!

The Tokyo Ghoul anime doesn't follow the manga because they needed to fit everything into a shorter series. So, compromises happened.

I read the manga before watching the anime and noticed the differences. They likely wanted a simplified version for a broader audience.

Studio Pierrot made changes to suit the anime format and timeframe. It鈥檚 not uncommon for anime adaptations to differ from their manga sources.
