Had the same issue! Turned out my graphics drivers were outdated. Updating them fixed the alt-tab freezing. Make sure your system's drivers are up to date!

Might be a RAM issue. Valorant is pretty demanding, and if you're running other stuff in the background, alt-tabbing could push your system over the edge. Try closing unnecessary apps before you game.
