The devs wanted to focus on a rich single-player experience without the added complexity of multiplayer. Imagine trying to explore the depths while your friend rearranges your base!
Multiplayer was considered, but it would have required a complete overhaul of the game's code. Total rewrite! That's a big nope from the team.
Adding multiplayer would have delayed the game鈥檚 release by years. Nobody wants to wait that long to dive into alien oceans!
