It could be server congestion, especially during peak times or new updates. Make sure your internet connection is solid!
Just turn off and turn back on the console. Works more often than you think!
I had the same issue! Clearing the cache on my PS5 worked wonders — you can do this by turning off the console completely and then restarting it after a few minutes.
It might take longer if you're joining a game mode with a large number of players. Just have a bit of patience!
