Why is happiness going down in Fallout 4?
Check yr power supply! If ur generators aren't keeping up with demand, happiness can take a hit. Think of it as the settlers complaining about the Wi-Fi being out.

Happiness in your settlements in Fallout 4 can dip for a few reasons. 1) Not enough food, water, beds, or defense can all contribute. Make sure you've got enough of each for every settler. 2) Settlements need enough jobs for everyone, idle settlers are unhappy settlers. 3) Make sure your settlers are protected from attacks. If raiders keep hitting your town, that's a downer for everyone. Lastly, check if there's a synth infiltrator, they can lower happiness too!
Honestly? Sometimes it feels random. I had everything maxed out - food, water, defense, beds - and happiness still dropped. Just keep tweaking things, maybe throw in some extra decorations or something. Settlers are picky!
Glitches. Sometimes it's just a bug. Save, exit, and reload. If all else fails, remember it's just a game, and these virtual people's happiness doesn't reflect on your post-apocalyptic leadership skills!
It's all about balance. Too much of one thing and not enough of another throws everything off. Also, happiness drops if you don't visit often. So, like plants, settlers need attention.
