Fallout 76 gets its name from Vault 76, which is one of the vaults in the Fallout universe. Vault 76 is a control vault, set to open 20 years after a nuclear war. The game itself is set in West Virginia and focuses on the survivors emerging from this vault 25 years after the Great War to rebuild society.

It's all about the vault number! Fallout 76 is named after Vault 76, a place in the game's lore that's meant to be among the first vaults to open after the nuclear apocalypse. So, the '76' doesn't just randomly make it sound cool, it's actually a key part of the game's backstory and setting.

Let me keep it simple: The '76' in Fallout 76 refers to Vault 76, where the game's survivors come from. Pretty neat, huh?

Vault 76 is sorta like the game's starting line. That's why they called it Fallout 76; it's all about the adventures after leaving Vault 76.
