Why is Minecraft not available on Steam?
RegulatingHale路7 months agoMinecraft isn't on Steam because it's owned by Microsoft, who prefers to distribute it through their own platforms, like the Microsoft Store and Xbox. Plus, putting it on Steam means they'd have to share revenue with Valve. So, it's all about keeping it in the family and maximizing profits.

Has nothing to do with compatibility or anything. It's purely a strategic business decision by Microsoft to not share the pie with Steam.
Honestly, it's just business. Microsoft wants to keep Minecraft exclusive to its own ecosystem to draw more users to its services. Steam, while massive, doesn't fit into their direct control and revenue strategy.
