Check your region settings in-game. If you're set to the wrong region, it can mess with matchmaking.
Hot take: Close Fortnite and reopen it. The classic 'turn it off and on again' works surprisingly often.
I've had this happen before. Make sure your game is updated to the latest version; sometimes older versions don't play nice with the servers!
I had this issue because I was in a restricted mode. Make sure you're not in a mode like Parental Controls that might limit online play.
