It's usually slow because of the default speed settings. Just type 'freecam_speed <number>' in the console to spice things up.
Freecam slow? Check your graphics settings. Lower settings can sometimes make it smoother.
My freecam was slow too! Changing the speed with the console command 'freecam_speed' fixed it right up. Give it a try!
