Check your internet connection. If you're on Wi-Fi, switch to data or vice versa. Sometimes that's all it takes.
Sometimes Instagram servers have temporary issues. Just wait a bit and try again later.
Make sure your app is up to date! Go to the App Store or Google Play and see if there's an update available.
Try clearing your app cache! On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Instagram and tap 'Clear Cache'. iOS doesn't have this option directly, but you can reinstall the app.
