Sometimes the sound settings within the game can be muted. Double-check the in-game audio settings to make sure they're not turned down or off.
This may sound odd, but check if your iPhone's volume limit setting is on. If the limit is set too low, you might not hear anything even with the volume up.
First, check if your iPhone is on silent mode. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best; flip that mute switch!
