First things first, check if your device volume is turned up and not muted. Sometimes it's the simple things!
In my experience, sometimes other apps can hijack the sound. Close all other apps and see if that helps.
Try restarting the game and your device. It sounds cliche, but it solves more problems than you'd think!
If you're using a PC, ensure your audio drivers are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can cause all sorts of issues.
