Why are my Steam downloads so slow?
BustingSpire路7 months agoSteam's slow download speeds can sometimes be because everyone's trying to update their games at the same time. Especially when a big game drops a huge update. Think of it as digital traffic jam. Late night or early morning downloads might just zip through faster.

First up, check your internet connection because that's the usual suspect. Slow internet = slow downloads. If your internet's fine, then dive into Steam settings. There's an option to limit download speed; make sure it's not set too low by accident. Also, try changing the download region to one closer to you or less busy. Steam's got a bunch of servers worldwide, and sometimes switching it up can speed things along.
Your antivirus or firewall might be the party pooper here. Sometimes they see a big file downloading and go 'Nope, not on my watch.' Try temporarily disabling them (but don't forget to turn them back on!) and see if your Steam downloads pick up speed.
Honestly, it might just be Steam's servers having a day off. Happens to the best of us. If everything else is working fine, grab a coffee, play something offline, and try again later.
I don鈥檛 get why everyone blames Steam first. My downloads are fine. Maybe upgrade your potato internet?
