Roy made it into Super Smash Bros thanks to his role in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. Nintendo loves to feature characters from their various franchises, and Roy's a natural fit.
Mainly cuz Roy's boy! His move set and style just really fit in with the Smash roster.
