Have you checked if your game version is up-to-date? Patches often fix performance issues.
Make sure your PC meets the game's system requirements! Also, try updating your graphic drivers; an out-of-date driver can really slow things down.
Try lowering the in-game settings. Sometimes, Sonic wants to go fast, but your PC needs a breather!
