Steam unpacking can be slow for a few reasons. First, your hard drive speed. If you're using an HDD, it's gonna be slower than an SSD. Second, the game size matters. Bigger games take longer to unpack. Also, don't forget about your PC's overall performance. If it's running other heavy processes, Steam unpacking will compete for resources and slow down.

Honestly, it's just your internet or PC. Upgrade either and see the magic happen.

I once waited for ages for a game to unpack. Turned out my antivirus was scanning every single file being unpacked. Paused it, and boom, speed improved. Check if there's something similar on your end.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
