Why is Steam unpacking so slow?
TabulatingMadam路7 months agoSteam unpacking can be slow for a few reasons. First, your hard drive speed. If you're using an HDD, it's gonna be slower than an SSD. Second, the game size matters. Bigger games take longer to unpack. Also, don't forget about your PC's overall performance. If it's running other heavy processes, Steam unpacking will compete for resources and slow down.

Honestly, it's just your internet or PC. Upgrade either and see the magic happen.
I once waited for ages for a game to unpack. Turned out my antivirus was scanning every single file being unpacked. Paused it, and boom, speed improved. Check if there's something similar on your end.
