It's all about privacy and safety. If you're seeing a lock, it might be because parental controls are on or you have some voice chat restrictions set. Adjust them in the settings menu.

The lock on Fortnite voice chat usually means that parental controls or privacy settings are restricting access. Check your settings!

Had the same issue! It ended up being parental controls that were set on my account. Once adjusted, voice chat was unlocked.
