It's the recent update. Every time there's a big patch, performance issues can pop up. The devs usually fix it pretty quick, though.
Hey, I had the same issue! Turned out it was my graphics settings. Lowering them a bit totally smoothed things out.
Honestly, I think it's just bad optimization. Wish they'd focus more on fixing bugs than adding new content sometimes.
