Facebook was originally created by Mark Zuckerberg to connect Harvard students socially on a single online platform. It quickly expanded beyond Harvard to other Ivy League universities and eventually the entire world!
Because Mark Zuckerberg was bored with his Harvard classes and wanted to build something cool. Can't say he didn't succeed!
