Will Steam download games while my PC is in sleep mode?

Nah, when your PC goes into sleep mode, it's basically telling all the running apps to take a nap too, including Steam. So, your downloads will pause until your PC wakes up again. It's like Steam and your PC are snoozing buddies.

Actually, downloads will pause. Your PC cuts off most activities to save power in sleep mode, and that includes Steam's downloads. I've tried leaving mine overnight in sleep mode, thinking I'd wake up to a completed game download, only to find it hadn't moved an inch.

Nope, downloads stop in sleep mode. Gotta keep that PC awake if you want Steam to keep downloading those games.

You're out of luck. Steam needs the PC to be awake, just like I need coffee to function in the mornings.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
