Nah, when your PC hits the hay (aka sleep mode), Steam takes a nap too. So, your downloads pause until your computer wakes up again. To keep those downloads going, you'll have to keep your PC awake.

I once left my PC in sleep mode thinking Steam would continue downloading my game. Came back to see not a single byte more had been downloaded. Lesson learned: sleep mode means everything sleeps.
