Hey there, as of now, there's no official word from Unknown Worlds Entertainment about adding a multiplayer mode to Subnautica. But hey, never say never!
Having played through it myself, I can say the single-player experience is incredibly immersive. Multiplayer would be cool, but it's not happening anytime soon.
To be honest, adding multiplayer could change the whole vibe of the game. Some things are best enjoyed alone, like a good horror movie or a tub of ice cream.
