I wanted a third-person option too, but sadly, The Outer Worlds keeps you in first-person the whole time.
Unfortunately, The Outer Worlds doesn't have a third-person mode. You'll be stuck in first-person throughout the game.
First-person only! If you want third-person, you'll have to look elsewhere.
