Nuclear Winter, Fallout 76's battle royale mode, got sunsetted in September 2021. Basically, Bethesda decided to shift focus and resources to other parts of the game that players engaged with more. They're now putting more effort into expanding the base game and rolling out new content like the recent 'Atlantic City - America's Playground' expansion. While it's sad to see it go, the game's still thriving with plenty of other stuff to do!

Nuclear Winter is gone! Bethesda axed it to concentrate on updates and new content that fit what most players want. Not everyone was into the battle royale vibe in the Fallout universe, so it kinda makes sense.

I actually miss Nuclear Winter... it was a unique twist on the usual battle royale. Sad to see not enough players felt the same, though.

RIP Nuclear Winter. It was cool but let's be honest, Fallout 76 is way better with the focus on cooperative play and building the wasteland. Battle royale was just not the right fit.
