Actually, evolving Haunter is a bit of a pain cuz you gotta find someone to trade with. But yeah, trading's the only way.

No evolution stones or special locations needed, just a good old trade with a friend. I traded mine and boom, Gengar! It's a cool moment, highly recommend.
