Why does CSGO change my mic volume?

CS:GO might be adjusting your mic volume automatically because of the 'Automatic Gain Control' feature in the game settings or your system settings. This feature tries to normalize the volume for clear communication but can sometimes mess with your preferred settings. A quick fix is to disable any automatic volume adjustments in both the game's audio settings and your computer's sound settings. Also, check your Windows sound settings under 'Recording Devices' to make sure CS:GO doesn't have exclusive control to adjust your device levels.

Honestly, it's just CS:GO trying to be helpful but failing miserably. Lower the game's control over your mic in your system settings.
