Why won’t my Rockruff evolve in Pokemon Violet?

Did ya check the time in the game? Rockruff only evolves at certain times. Day for Midday Form, night for Midnight Form. Gotta time it right!

It's all about the time! Make sure you're not trying to evolve a special Own Tempo Rockruff at the wrong time of day. Only evolves into Dusk Form at dusk, and that's super specific!

Rockruff's evolution in Pokemon Violet (and Scarlet) depends on a couple of things! First, make sure it's reaching level 25 or above, because that's when it starts to consider evolving. Second, and this is the quirky part, Rockruff evolves into different forms of Lycanroc depending on the time of day in-game. If it's in the day, you get Midday Form Lycanroc. At night, you'll see it evolve into Midnight Form Lycanroc. There's also a special Own Tempo ability Rockruff that evolves into Dusk Form Lycanroc at dusk. So, check the time in your game and the ability of your Rockruff!
