Nope, they didn't get rid of chat! They recently added Quick Chat for quicker communication, but free chat is still available if you're over 13.

No, chat is still there! You can use both the Quick Chat wheel and the free text chat. Just make sure you're old enough for the latter.

They didn't remove chat at all. Quick Chat was added for faster gameplay, but traditional chat is still an option.
