Nope, Stardew Valley doesn't need Nintendo Switch Online if you're planning on playing solo. You can farm, mine, and romance the townsfolk to your heart's content offline. However, if you wanna visit friends' farms or have them come to yours, then yes, you'll need that Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Stardew Valley is a single-purchase game with no microtransactions, which means you can play the majority of the game without Nintendo Switch Online. That said, for multiplayer fun, the subscription is a must.

Actually, yes for multiplayer. If you're into sharing your farm life with others or peeking into their agricultural paradise, Nintendo Switch Online is the gatekeeper.

Nah, you don't need it. I've been playing Stardew Valley on my Switch for months now and haven't touched the online part. Solo play works just fine without it.

If you're a Stardew Valley player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
