From my experience, you can only dig 4 meters down. Seems like Odin draws the line there!

You can't dig very deep at all, just 4 meters! #Disappointing

You can dig to about 4 meters below the terrain level, any deeper and your Viking shovel will hit an invisible barrier.

Yeah, you can only dig to a depth of 4 meters. Tried going further, but it's like hitting an invisible wall. The real challenge is in surviving above ground anyway!
