To use the silo in Stardew Valley, first make sure you have one built on your farm. Once you have a silo, whenever you cut grass with your scythe, instead of the grass just disappearing, it’ll be converted into hay and automatically stored in the silo. You can check how much hay you have by right-clicking the silo. To get hay out for your animals, interact with the hay hoppers located inside your coops and barns.

Don't forget, without a silo, you're just making a mess out of valuable feed! Every swipe of the scythe without a silo is hay wasted. Build one ASAP for efficiency's sake.

Simple: Cut grass, get hay, animals stay happy! The silo magically turns all that grass into food for your farm critters. No more manual stuffing hay into your pockets.
