Build a stone hearth and create a chimney by stacking walls with a vertical opening. Don't forget the angled roof pieces to guide the smoke out!
You can make an open chimney by leaving gaps at the top of your walls. Just be cautious of rain putting out your fire.
Honestly, just build a fire pit with walls around leaving space for smoke to escape. Works fine every time!
