In Stardew Valley, a fish pond is essentially your personal fish farm. You can add any kind of fish to it, and over time, they'll multiply! The pond starts with a capacity of 3 fish, but you can increase this up to 10 by completing tasks the fish in the pond ask for. These tasks usually involve bringing them certain items. As the number of fish increases, the pond will produce roe (fish eggs) which can be harvested and sold or turned into artisan goods. Some fish also produce other resources, making it a great way to get rare items and make some extra gold.

Pro tip: Not all fish are created equal in those ponds. Some give you super rare items, so choosing the right fish can really pay off. I once filled a pond with sturgeon and made a fortune selling sturgeon roe and aged caviar. Best investment ever!
