To buy chickens in Stardew Valley, you first need a coop! Head over to Robin's carpenter shop to build one. Once you got that sorted, mosey on down to Marnie's Ranch, south of your farm. There, you can buy chickens for 800g a pop. Just talk to Marnie inside the shop, and she'll hook you up with as many cluckers as your coop can handle!

Pro tip: Marnie's not always at her shop (Mondays and Tuesdays, she's a ghost), so plan your chicken-buying spree accordingly. Got burned once waiting outside her door with pockets full of gold and dreams of eggs, only to find out she was off gallivanting somewhere. Don't make my mistake!

Just go to Marnie's Ranch with 800 gold in your pocket. If she's there, you can buy chickens directly from her. Make sure you've got a coop ready first, or else those chickens won't have a home!

800g and a coop, that's your ticket to chicken town. Simple.

You seriously can't just 'buy' chickens without a place for them to live. Build a coop first, then talk to Marnie. Not rocket science, folks.
