I've found that mashing the right button combinations in a panic often saves me from being grabbed. Try pressing 2 or 4 plus the direction away from the opponent.

To cancel a grab in Tekken 8, you need to press the opposite direction plus the 2 or 4 punch button right when the grab animation starts. Timing is everything!
