Honestly, just make a beeline for the Black Forest and start raiding every Burial Chamber you can find. Those cores won't gather themselves!

Burnt enough trees yet? You can also farm surtling cores from fire geysers in Swamps. Just take out the Surtlings that spawn there and boom, cores!

I've had the best luck finding surtling cores in Swamp biomes at the Surtling spawners. Just bring your best gear because those fireball-throwing jerks can be nasty!

Don't overlook the Black Forest dungeons! Consistent source of surtling cores if you don't mind fighting skeletons.
