A good strategy is to kite blobs, meaning you attack them from a distance and keep moving so they can't reach you. Also, consider using poison-resistant mead to mitigate their damage if you have to fight up close.

Use your bow and arrows to handle blobs from a distance. Poison arrows work wonders, but even fire arrows can do the trick. Just don't get too close, or they'll ruin your day faster than you can say 'for Odin!'

I always carry a shield and a mace when I'm expecting blobs. Block their jumps with the shield, then crush them with the mace. Blunt damage seems to work best.

Honestly, just avoid them if you can. They're more trouble than they're worth and will probably poison you to death if you get too close. Stick to ranged attacks!
