Also, check the traveling cart near the forest every Friday and Sunday. Sometimes the lady sells amethyst. That's how I got my first one without breaking a sweat!
To snag some amethyst in Stardew Valley, head into the mines. Amethyst spawns pretty regularly as you go deeper, particularly from levels 40 and beyond where the mines start to get more purple and spooky. Keep an eye out for those purple gem nodes; that's where amethyst loves to hide!
