To unravel the Winter Mystery in Stardew Valley, ya gotta follow a trail of footprints you'll find starting outside Marnie's ranch. These mysterious tracks will lead you to a bush next to the playground in Pelican Town. When ya give that bush a hearty shake during the winter, a Shadow Guy pops out and dashes off, dropping a magnifying glass as his farewell gift. This magnifying glass lets you find Secret Notes all around the valley, which are pretty handy for uncovering more hidden treasures and lore!

Just look for some footprints in the snow near Marnie's ranch. Easy.

Honestly, don't sweat the small stuff in Stardew. Chasing after a shadow dude for some notes? Just enjoy the farming, fishing, and making friends. That's the real treasure.
