First up, make sure both you and your friend(s) are running the same version of Stardew Valley. Out of sync versions is a common culprit. Also, double-check your internet connection. A shaky connection can mess up multiplayer sessions. If you're on Steam or GOG, try the Verify Integrity of Game Files option. Sometimes files get corrupted and this magic button can fix it.
Ensure your firewall or antivirus isn't blocking Stardew Valley. It's rare, but sometimes they see it as a threat. Adding Stardew Valley as an exception can resolve this. Make sure to do this on all devices trying to connect.
