How to get a better axe in Stardew Valley
Just mine a bunch of copper and pay Clint a visit. Upgrading to a copper axe first is the way to go. Patience is key, my friend!

To upgrade your axe in Stardew Valley, you need to visit Clint the blacksmith. Bring some bars of copper, iron, gold, or iridium (depending on the upgrade level you want) and some gold coins. The first upgrade requires 5 copper bars and 2000G. Just remember, upgrading takes a couple of days, so plan your woodcutting and farming activities accordingly!
Honestly, the default axe works fine if you're not in a rush. Upgrades are overrated unless you're really into maxing out every aspect of your farm. Plus, saves you gold for other things.
