To get a pet in Stardew Valley, all you need is a bit of patience. In your first Spring, Marnie will stop by with either a cat or dog, depending on what you chose when you started. No need to buy or unlock anything, it’s all part of the storyline!

Getting a pet in Stardew Valley is pretty straightforward. If you chose the cat or dog at the beginning of the game, once you repair the farmhouse a little, Marnie will come visit and bring you a pet. You don’t have to do anything special, just keep playing and she’ll show up with your furry friend!

I got my dog in Stardew Valley by just playing through the game! Marnie brought him one morning and it was the best surprise. Just focus on fixing up your place, and you'll get your pet in no time.

Actually, you can't choose your pet's type mid-game. You’re stuck with your initial choice. So make it wisely!

If you're a Stardew Valley player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
