When I play, I usually make sure to clear the area of enemies before diving in. That way, I can take my time and not worry about getting attacked while I'm swimming around.

I find using the Karve or Longship can help too. If items are deep, jump off the boat, grab the loot, then climb back on to recover stamina.

Use the Wishbone to detect treasures underwater! It's a great tool for finding buried goodies and sometimes they end up underwater.

Just dive in and grab them! Valheim lets you swim down to retrieve items, but be quick or you'll run out of stamina. Dive responsibly!
