The trick to hunting sea serpents in Valheim is using a fast boat, like the Karve or Longship. Equip yourself with a bow and lots of arrows (poison or obsidian work best). Lure the serpent near the shore and finish it off from land if you want to collect serpent scales!
Honestly, the best way is to team up with friends. One can steer the boat while the others shoot or harpoon. Plus, it's more fun that way!
Just avoid them. Sea serpents are too much trouble; it's not worth the risk!
