I usually just use Steam's 'Join Game' option from my friend's profile. It works like a charm!

Select 'Join Game' in the main menu, enter the server's address and password (if required), and you're all set to raid together!

Just get your friend's server IP, hit 'Join Game' in the Valheim menu, and paste that bad boy in. Easy peasy!
