How to Keep Max Alive in The Quarry
To keep Max alive, make sure you choose to leave him on the island at the end of Chapter 9 and have Laura kill him in Chapter 10. Weird, but it works!

Got Max through the game by making sure he stayed on the island in Chapter 9 and then had Laura kill him in Chapter 10.
You really just need to keep him on the island late in the game. Simple but effective.
IMPORTANT: Don鈥檛 let Laura shoot Max in Chapter 7! Ensure you successfully complete the QTEs when Max is attacked on the island and then get him to swim to safety.
As long as Max stays on the island at the end of Chapter 9 and Laura kills him in Chapter 10, he survives.
