Ghosts can be tricky, but blunt weapons work best. Try a mace or club, and you should be fine.
Tbh, just avoid them if you can. Not worth the hassle.
In my experience, the root armor gives good resistance to their attacks while you bash them with a mace. Worked for me!
Get yourself a good blunt weapon. Whack those phantoms with a silver mace, and they won't stand a chance!
